30DaysOfAwesome, day5.

june 14th, 2013 – 30DaysOfAwesome, day 5.

“la de dah de dah…it’s the one and only cck! cally king m*****r f*****r!”

today’s awesome started yesterday – at 1am, when i picked up my best friend in the entire world, ms. cally king, for her first trip to vermont. regardless of what we ended up doing today, i couldn’t be happier being able to spend time with her and catch up.

it feels like the old days of summer – where we had endless slumber parties, ordered pizza from bed at noon, watched star wars over and over again, and talked about boys all day long! the only difference is we’re allowed to drink now.

onward to awesome.

i’ve probably never told anyone this – but when i was a kid i had the biggest crush on robin hood.

no. not kevin coster.
robin hood. the fox.

yeah, i know. it’s a little weird to crush on a fox. but he was smooth, charming, and as we all know, he was good with a bow & arrow.

today, i had my chance to learn how to be a bad ass like my childhood crush robin hood. hillary and alyssa invited myself, cally king, kaitlin, and chris clark to join them on their newest addiction: archery.

we headed up to pelky’s archery in st. alban’s to get an archery lesson – and become masters of the bow.

first things first. gotta get all katniss everdeened out with a standard side braid. thanks kaitlin for the do.

since some of us were newbies to archery, we had to first learn which eye was our dominate eye.

then it was off to shooting.

my first bullseye!

girl and other girl!

that’s a bunch of bad ass archers right there.

such an awesome day. thanks hillary & alyssa for the invite!

make sure to check out 30daysofawesome.com to see who is out there being awesome.

atthention, girls getting awesome: NicoleTawnyaKaitHeatherAmanda, and Angeli.

also, please don’t tell anyone about the robin hood thing. it’s really embarrasing.

30DaysOfAwesome, day4.

june 13th, 2013 – 30DaysOfAwesome, day 4.

when i was a kid i would watch saved by the bell every morning between 7am and 8am, and of course rush home after school to catch two more episodes between 3pm and 4pm. i used to dream of being part of the gang, talking on zach’s giant cell-phone, watching slater and jessie say “i love you mama.” and “i love you too papa.”, opening a locker and finding screech inside, shopping with lisa, being ridiculously hot like kelly, and of course jumping up for one of those epic group high fives.

you know what i’m talking about.

saved by the bell group high five

lucky for me -i was asked to join the “Saved by the Ball” burton kickball team this year and now have had plenty of times to group high five – after in-field home runs, accidentally knocking down first basemen, and during the middle of the 5th inning group social with the other teams.

i’ve never been on a kickball team before – so this is a brand new experience for me and totally awesome.

the team was even kind enough to let me design out tshirts. ummm, kelly kawpowski…can we saw awesome? or hubba hubba, we can also say that.

in tonight’s game, i was chosen to represent the team for the pre-game drink off in order to decide who gets to be the hometeam. the challenge: 2 players must shotgun a beer and then sprint half of the bases.

obviously if you know me, you know this was within my wheelhouse of talents. i think my enthusiasm about shotgunning even alarmed the umpire, because she pulled me aside and said “i guess, i’m just going to go ahead and assume you’re going to win this thing…” jesse and i destroyed the competition, proving that we’re not only good at drinking, but we’re also pretty good at drinking.

saved by the ball! (and our lovely team mascot millie!)

after each game, there is a group bbq for all to enjoy. here is saved by the ball in a team celebration of our 2-0 win.

this awesome is dedicated to my first friends: zach, kelly, slater, jessie, lisa & screech. they are my friends forever.

make sure to check out 30daysofawesome.com to see who is out there being awesome.

and you know the drill check out the other babes of awesome and their summer adventures: NicoleTawnyaKaitHeatherAmanda, and Angeli.

i’m sorry, did i mention millie?

30DaysOfAwesome, day3.

30DaysOfAwesome, day3.

june 12th, 2013 – 30DaysOfAwesome, day 3.

i realize we’re only 3 days into awesome this year, but i’m starting to notice a pattern. apparently i like vermont.

i mean, what’s not to like? in the winter, there is snow…in the summer, it’s green. people are ridiculously nice, and always up for an adventure.

and that’s how today came about. today was my dear friend ryan giorgio’s birthday, and to celebrate his annual joining this earth – we decided to go play frisbee golf. or frolf rather. it’s a ridiculously vermont thing to do. and even more vermont, every time i have ventured out onto the frolf course, i’ve decided to go shoeless. i’m sure by the end of this 30 days, i will have dreads and be listening to a lot of phish…

you’re right – that’s never going to happen. like, never.

anyway, myself, ryan giorgio, my matty, john “dick” brown, and shawn evans headed out to the frolf course in waterbury to celebrate ryan giorgio, trek through the mud, throw some frisbees, and drink some beers.

at some point, JB and I decided to climb a tree, which was of course…awesome.

scott “socks” weibers was the all star of the adventure, joining us on the 6th hole, and destroying the competition with the hammer and all things argile.

overall, i’m a pretty medicore frolf player – but every once in a while, we all have those hero moments. mine came on the 7th hole when i decided to stop messing around and toss the frisbee right in the hole, from about 100 yards away. as the great happy gilmore once said “I should just try to get the ball in one shot every time…”

in a strange turn of events, about 20 minutes after finishing our round of frolfing – i decided to lose my cell phone. classic elbee – i know you’re all shocked. through desperation i searched the last 3 holes of the course with just my keen vision and cell phone lights – when all was lost – matty stayed positive and helped me trace my steps back to the infamous spot where i decided to use the “ladies room” in the woods and so stupidly dropped my cell phone. happily i found it, or else i would not be able to post all these awesome photos for you today. thanks matty for not giving up on me and my ability to misplace things.

from the depths of my drunken cell-phone losing heart, i want to say “happy birthday ryan giorgio!”

bonus awesome.
sometimes you plan awesome, sometimes awesome shows up at your office in a sweet package from your
dearest friend mr. mikey fullington. mikey? oh you know mikey. you might remember him from awesome 2011 – when we tackled the adventure of driving from colorado to california and dealing with ridiculously bad hangovers. in order to try and inspire me to get back out there, mikey hooked me up with a brand new complete powell peralta skateboard. maybe someday i’ll get back out there mikey…maybe. thank you mikey!

another awesome day.

if you’re reading this, i’m assuming you’ve noticed the amount of excitement that #30daysofAwesome has caused. i’m must say that i’m humbled and blown away that something that i started to fill my summers with has taken such a leap, and has inspired others to do something each day. i can’t wait to see how it all turns out. speaking of that, check out 30daysofawesome.com to see who is out there being awesome. and of course, i wouldn’t be anywhere without the official girls of awesome, so check out their blogs and see what adventures they are getting into: NicoleTawnyaKaitHeatherAmanda, and Angeli.

happy awesome to everyone out there getting awesome.
